Anne Lister and Ann Walker in the Gentleman Jack series.

It was with a heavy heart that we learned HBO will not be moving forward with a third season of Gentleman Jack. The series, which starred Suranne Jones as nineteenth-century lesbian landowner Anne Lister, was a critical and commercial success, and its cancellation came as a surprise to many. While it is disappointing that we will not get to see more of Lister’s story, we are grateful for the time we did have with the show. Gentleman Jack was groundbreaking television, and its loss will be felt for years to come.
