Their delightful camaraderie remains intact, weaving humor and charm into a gripping narrative that will keep you enthralled. For those who relished the initial season, the second chapter of "Only Murders in the Building" is a must-watch continuation of the series.
"Only Murders in the Building" is a hilarious comedy series that follows an unlikely trio of tenants as they try to solve a murder. Selena Gomez stars as Mabel Mora, a young interior designer who becomes obsessed with solving the homicide that occurred in her building. Martin Short stars as Oliver Putnam, a struggling theater producer who joins forces with Mabel to crack the case. Steve Martin stars as Charles Haden-Savage, a former ‘80s TV star who is also eager to solve the murder. The three become true-crime podcasters hoping to solve the mysterious homicide that occurred in their building.
In Season 1 of “Only Murders in the Building,” we met Mabel, Charles, and Oliver, three neighbors who were in the same elevator as Tim Kono before he was killed. To find the culprit, they joined forces and started recording a podcast about this unsolved criminal case.
Although the Season 1 finale answered the question that has been nagging at viewers all along, “Who killed Tim Kono?”, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver’s investigations are far from over.
The season 2 plot revolves around the shocking death of Bunny Folger, the president of the board of directors of their building, who is found dead, and Mabel, Charles, and Oliver become the prime suspects. And as if that wasn’t enough, they become Cinda Canning’s (Tina Fey) latest obsession and the favorite subjects of her new podcast... As everyone seems to turn against them, the three friends have to race against time to clear their names and catch the real killer before it’s too late.
Creator John Hoffman has promised that viewers can expect more of the same elements they loved in the first season.
“The way in which a true-crime podcast or something like that can build a community… the show builds the same kind of community around its mystery and creates dialogues between us and can connect us,” Hoffman told The AV Club.
Also, Cara Delevingne's character Alice, a sophisticated art world insider is not only becoming enmeshed in the mystery but could also end up being a love interest for Mabel.
Amy Schumer has joined the cast of the new season and is playing a “slightly unbearable” version of herself who is determined to adapt the popular podcast to a film in which, of course, she wants to play the lead role.
Besides Schumer, the cast also includes Shirley MacLaine as Leonora Folger, Bunny’s mom.
The first two episodes of “Only Murders in the Building” season 2 were released on June 28, 2022, on Hulu and Disney+. Then the rest of the episodes - eight in total - will air weekly with one episode every Tuesday until August 23.
