Introducing "The Retreat," a new Canadian independent lesbian horror movie directed by Pat Mills and written by Alyson Richards. The plot follows Renee and Valerie as they organize a tranquil retreat with friends in a secluded cabin, which takes a spine-chilling turn. Released today, this film follows the success of other lesbian films "Justine" and "My First Summer."
Renee (Tommie-Amber Pirie) and Valerie (Sarah Allen) are a couple with a rocky relationship so, to reconnect, they decide to spend a week-long pre-wedding retreat with friends away from it all. That day, when they arrive at the cabin, Renee and Valerie are surprised to find that their friends are nowhere to be found. And as they fall back into their bad habits, stumbling over their relationship woes, the two women end up fighting for their lives when a group of militant serial killers tries to murder them.
“The Retreat” is scheduled for release on May 21, 2021, in select theaters across Canada.
