As I told you, TV series “Dickinson” is ready. All we had to do was to know the official air date of season 2, and it’s now done!
“Dickinson” Season 2 won’t be streamed in 2020 as originally planned. Nevertheless, as it was filmed before the coronavirus pandemic began, we will be able to watch it fairly quickly. Streaming platform Apple TV+ has announced that season 2 will begin on January 8, 2021.
We could have expected a longer delay. It’s very nice to know that we will be able to discover the new episodes of “Dickinson” in a few months.
Episode 1, 2, and 3 of “Dickinson” season 2 will be available on Apple TV+ from January 8, 2021. Then, a new episode will be streamed every week.
Season 2 will focus on Emily’s celebrity and explain why she did not publish her poems before her death. We know her father was against it, but Emily also had a “deeply ambivalent relationship to fame”.
Also, the Civil War is imminent. There will be mention of John Brown, an anti-slavery activist who, with a small army of 18 white and black men, attacked the federal arsenal at Harper’s Ferry in Virginia in October 1859, two years before the Civil War began.
This attack was one of the events that fuelled the fire between the northern and southern states.
The secession between these states began in December 1860, one month after the election of the anti-slavery activist Abraham Lincoln as the new President of the United States.
The Civil War officially began on April 12, 1861.
And since good news never comes alone, the announcement of the official air date came with a pleasant surprise: Apple TV+ has renewed the series for a season 3!
We will therefore be able to continue to follow the exciting story of Emily Dickinson in new episodes to come soon.
