New Medical Drama "Nurses" Features A Love Story Between Two Women

Lesbian relationship in new TV drama

Lesbian love story on TV? Yes please!

The premiere of the highly-anticipated Canadian medical drama, "Nurses", is finally here, and it certainly looks like it is going to be a show that shouldn't be missed. With an interesting plot line featuring a romantic connection between two of the characters portrayed by actresses Natasha Calis and Alexandra Ordolis, "Nurses" promises to be quite a gripping watch!

“We are thrilled to welcome Nurses to Global’s winter schedule,” said Daniel Eves, Senior Vice President of TV Networks, Corus Entertainment. “Paired with Global’s breakout hits from the fall, January is the perfect launchpad for this fresh medical drama, and we can’t wait to introduce these rookie nurses to our viewers.”

What Is "Nurses" All About?

Set in a hospital in downtown Toronto, the show follows the lives of five rookie nurses as they navigate their complicated personal lives as well as their challenging jobs, including long hours, difficult patients, and life-and-death situations. They are all incredibly dedicated to their work and each have their own unique way of helping people and navigating the world. They're also all struggling with some kind of personal issue that makes it difficult for them to help themselves, but they continue to push through and help others. Each character is at a different stage in their life, but they're all going through the same transition - into adulthood. They're all trying to figure out who they are and what they want in life.

  • Grace Knight is a woman of great tenacity and grit, who had always been determined to accomplish her goals. She recently made the bold decision to relocate to Toronto, hoping to start anew and take advantage of new opportunities. Her courage and determination paid off as she begins to make her mark in the hospital, garnering attention for her skills and talents and earning respect among her peers.
  • Keon Colby is a former college football star who knows all too well the feeling of disappointment and can't seem to shake it. For years he's tried against the odds to show what he's made of. Despite facing numerous setbacks, Keon remains determined and desperate to prove himself. Slowly, his arduous work is beginning to pay off, rebuilding his career, this time as a nurse.
  • Nazneen Khan is a bright-eyed, enthusiastic young woman who recently made the decision to move from India to take on a fantastic job opportunity. She thrown headfirst into an exciting career, and couldn't be more thrilled. She is eager to start learning and honing her craft, feeling confident that she could make an impact and challenge herself in this brand-new realm of work. Ultimately, Nazneen Khan is keen to explore all the possibilities that are ahead of her as she takes on this bold and exciting venture!
  • Wolf Burke is fiercely loyal and kind towards his colleagues, but beneath the surface of his amicable personality lies a heavy secret that he keeps hidden from them. His coworkers may assume that they understand everything there is to know about him, however, this simply isn't the case. Though his persona shines brightly through supportive behaviour and friendly banter, his true emotional self remains somewhat estranged; like a silent weight slowly pulling him away into darkness where no one can find him or help.

  • Ashley Collins is an intriguing character that audiences can't help but be curious about. She's a wild adrenaline junkie who puts her work first. An interesting angle of Ashley's story comes in the form of her love interest for Caro, a paramedic whom she met in a bar. While their relationship isn't really highlighted during the first season, it provides viewers with a juicy motivator to stick around for more of the story. We can only wait and see how things develop between these two as we get to know Ashley and Caro better over time.
